Sophie_Draws - good progress. :) you are probably picking the wrong colours due to misunderstanding color temperature. what are you using right now, HSB or RGB slider? your warms and cools are struggling and RGB is much better at handling them

working on a sargent, slowly. not really a 30 day challenge anymore, how awful ;_;

I'm using the hsb slider. I probably sound like an idiot but I don't really get the rgb sliders, I struggle with getting the correct colour. Haha

Edit: Here's the next one. I'm just going with getting 30 done as quick as I can. Doing one a day is pretty impossible at the moment.

Hey guys, I'd love to take part in this exercise, but I'm not entirely sure how we go about achieving likeness when painting digitally. Are we supposed to use a straight edge guide or 'line' like in the video or are we supposed to eyeball and then overlay to compare?

Hello pretties, I'm joining in :). I spent a lot of time on this one because I got excited. It's a great exercise, hopefully switching between the measuring ''goggles'' will be automatic once 30 days have passed <3.

I hope this will count because I don't have any digital means available atm so no overlay possible! I can get some magazines and use tracing paper instead, but I don't have any ready right now. :)

Please excuse the quality: I didn't have a lot of time but thought I'd rather do something than nothing. I got some practice with the techniques at least. I have yet to use a mirror so I should get one to make that too a habit.

Drawn: 3/5 days

I finally got my tablet working. I'm going to keep doing traditional drawings because my brain wasn't working very hard: I could rely a lot on horizontal measurements and negative shapes between the subject and the frame when I had my reference and drawing side-by-side. That, or I'll make my reference image another size compared to my drawing next time.

Day 4.

I made my copy slightly smaller than the original: this way I had to think in terms of proportions and shapes instead of copying what I see. My drawing is less accurate but I'm actually more excited for it, as it seems I've ventured somewhat out of my comfort zone and found a pleasant balance of pain and reward.

The biggest mistake I did with this one is not having spent enough time on the big proportions: that way my details too were slightly off. Next time I shouldn't commit to my proportions as early as I did now.

Day 5

The big proportions are still off but much less than before. I should spend more time in the placement phase and do a double-check before I give it a pass and start putting in details. I think I'm getting faster. :)

Damn, you guys did all of these copies in a week? It took me around 80 hours of working on this with 30+ hours of practicing traditionally with oil paints. I'm gonna go more basic and do bargue studies and try applying what I learn to some photo values studies. But whatever, it's gonna be a slow going thread guys.
Hope everyone is sticking with it.

Hey guys, I did another value study. Unlike the other one, I think that I'll try to finish this one.
