Here are some of my recent skecthes and studies, where I was mainly focusing on values, lighting and forms. I think I need a lot of practice in managing halftones, getting correct values relationship, the overall feeling of form. Some time ago I didn't realy understand an importance of reflected light on form, now I feel it's one of the most important aspects of realness of an image, idk if I'm rignt or not.

Hi cool stuff! I think it might be cool for you to see about edges too, loomis talk about it in his books, but mostly it's a matter of observing where there is sharp angles and smooth parts. But i see you are going through Bargues! Hope to see more soon!

Just keep going on !

Nice work. Some of these feel too quick and rushed. I would slow down and smooth out your graduations so that you can truly understand form and edges. The amount of brush strokes makes it easier for the eye to forgive mistakes hence you wouldn't learn smaller nuances and subtitles as much. Ie the form of a gentle curve would turn slower than the form of a tighter curve.

crankshaft, thanks! I will try to invest some time into more finished works! Going to do some concepts and illustrations~
poyou, thank you! I know about edges, but now i see that I don't use them how it should be done. I'll fix it in my future works.
some sketches and wip for now (some edges work is needed, i'll fix that later)

Great sketchbook! I especially like the tonal studies. You caught the halftones sooooo good. Everything is so soft and still defined.

Your control over value is incredible! So are your proportions, stylization, and attention to detail.

One issue I see is in your imaginative works when weight and movement are concerned. The poses of those characters feel stiff and almost inauthentic as if posing for a picture or a plastic figurine. I'm not experienced in exercises that would help, but I've seen people study how animators tackle movement, gravity, and force or have observed figures moving through slow motion videos.

Hope this is useful, you've inspired me to do more value studies, keep up the great work!

Good Values and i like your style! please be careful with using 100% white for your highlight like you did it in your asuka painting. Hope you keep posting i really enjoy your work!
