Due to bad decisions was bedridden for about 2.5 days up to now and still exhausted.
Got a lot of sleep at least, but no more time for resting, two midterms tomorrow.
Should be able to draw more after finishing them.
I'd really like to increase my skill more before the semester is done.

Wanted to pass out, got insomnia instead.
Spent time drawing and reading.

Been progressing an animation study during past weeks, now over half the total frame count.
Maybe 3-4 more weeks or less to draw the rest of them?
Masayuki Nonaka is absolutely an amazing animator, what a pro.

Still, for animation goals I will continue drawing although less.

Keep it up, your animu faces are so cute. It might be a good idea to slow down on your traditional sketches from time to time to carefully observe the human body, that might explain why there seems to be a significant skill difference between your animations and sketches. Out of curiosity, how much of your sketches are from imagination?

Your chibis are so cute!

Are the bounding boxes for your figures just for your forays into animation? It doesn't seem like you need perspective laid out to draw convincing poses, so I was wondering why they started appearing in the more recent posts.
[Yukio] Mishima had been asked, “What is the passion that drives you?”
He replied, “Being brought up during the war and being told at the age of 20 that everything until then had been a mistake — that’s all.”

Thanks, I'd like to animate them someday.
Although I should study anatomy again soon.

I'm just curious how the figures look inside boxes so I draw them.
It's fun for me to learn and experiment new/different things.
In the times I gain understanding, my respect for the old masters deepen.

Man you're going to be a human perspective maniac one day. That study you did from "aninotes yuru yuri"(?) was incredlible! Aww man now I want to try out some animation stuff... D:

That's the plan at least lol, then I can focus on other things when I animate.

Thanks, apparently the yuru yuri study was liked by some others too.
Took much longer than I first thought since I stalled it for a while.
I'm glad I put in the effort all the way to finish it in the end.
Masayuki Nonaka is the real star since he animated the cut.

If you're interested in doing some animation grab animdessin2, assuming photoshop.
Doing something related to Steven Universe like a study or a run cycle might be fun.

Okay done, I should've uploaded these a long time ago.
Arranging ~70 pages, taking picture, cropping, and resizing is annoying all at once.
I want to go back to drawing strictly traditional soon since it's been a while.
Stopped to focus on other things, but now that I'm drawing "regularly" again on digital...
Pen, pencil, marker, ink, and paper is pretty interesting too.

I feel like our buff and rendered friend on the top right sheet is swollen rather than swole.

A more prominent trapezius is definitely a sign of a strong man but this feels off somehow. Was this referenced? It's either taking up too much area, or is too tall compared to the "ground level" of the rest of the back... at least compared to my own mental image.
[Yukio] Mishima had been asked, “What is the passion that drives you?”
He replied, “Being brought up during the war and being told at the age of 20 that everything until then had been a mistake — that’s all.”

@rezzealaux
You might be surprised at the builds that body builders can have, I kind of am.
Although the drawing is definitely different from the ref so it's more likely "wrong" than "right".
My focus was a basic form analysis with alternative lighting at the time a few months ago.

It's a study and off by a lot but my ability with paper used to be too small to "naturally" do this.
I'm happy to be consistently hitting checkpoints when it matters lately so things are paying off.
Pencil tests with a camera are annoying so I'll get a scanner some day.
Animating on paper has a definite charm though and give me more control with lines.
More excitement, fun, and frustration awaits.

(elrico vs lhs https://my.mixtape.moe/bovbmi.mp4)

19 sheets used including the 9 "final" frames seen.
Spent a massive amount of time and burned through a full pencil to finish.
Lots of lines and forms suck while character goes off model.
Designs like these give me strong "draw the rest of the fucking owl" vibes.
For this kind of trivial head turn, the overall performance/quality feels unacceptable.
A long way to still go but I'm taking progress without a doubt.
Using just the design to animate on paper like this wasn't remotely possible a few months ago.
Traditional animation is so hardcore I love it gahahaha.

Oh man, I like those traditional animations. Did you use a lightbox? I've always wanted to try animating on paper since I can't for the life of me find a good 2d animation software that isn't photoshop, but it seems difficult without some sort of onion skinning method.

@Vii
Thanks, I've still got a long way to go and yup I have an A3 sized one that uses LED's.
I want to get a portable A4 one someday but only after I've used the A3 extensively.
It's possible to just use a ruler and a pegbar can be replaced with clamps though.

On software:
For photoshop, animdessin can be a nice plugin to have.
CLIP Studio is also nice but will need hotkeys setup to streamline.
TVPaint might be wacky to get used to, but has a great timeline.
I haven't used Adobe Flash/Animate, Hanepen, or Cacani but they might be worth looking into.
Krita and openToonz are available for free.

Using what's immediately available is okay for anyone I think.
Every choice shares the same features needed to start out.
