Dope painting studies! You've got plenty of awesome bust and portrait shots, it'd be cool to see your process for them! Or your process for full figures. Your hands generally have a strange way to them that's a little distracting in your full-body inks. They get a little strange around the middle and ring finger connecting to the hand. Great design-ey stuff, though!

Thanks rondellgayle!, I'll take screens of the process next time! or maybe I'll record myself I don't do it often because my computer is from 2009 and tends to run slow. After my portrait studies I'll start doing full bodies, that will be fun and challenging!. Thanks for the comment on the hands I do struggle a lot drawing them also with feet, I hope my next studies of the complete body help on that. :D

Dang, 2009? Have you upgraded since then at all or is it the same parts and everything? So long as it works for what you need it to, though!

But yeah, my first thought going through your sketchbook was that I felt you could have a bit more volume of work. I don't know if you mean you're busy with other stuff that you can't draw as much as you want or what, but I think the more mileage you're able to put in the better. Even if it's just one big piece at a time.

The portrait studies are still looking great! Some of the pencil stuff gets a bit wonky with angles/forms, but I think you're generally on the right track with them.

I upgraded the ram and HD last year, But I still have the same 512mb GPU...xD

I totally know what you mean, I am getting more into it though, last year I was really inconsistent now I feel I'm getting in to it more and more. I hope to hit that sweet spot soon. I feel that with all the things I've learn I can seat and draw more often than before.

Thanks!, Portraits are my comfort zone for sure, but I will study the whole body next!, that'll be a level up I hope!

Honestly I love your characters, I've been trying to study your figures and more finished work to see where and how I can push mine. I usually have a pretty tough time making my mind up about what ideas to finish and what should just remain more or less overdone sketches. That kinda leads to everything being a sketch.. This last char and the commission you posted remind me of Alphonse Mucha work which I currently have as my laptop background! :D Do you ever come up with stories for any of your characters? And do you go through any specific design process when making them?

Thanks rondeligayle!, That commission was indeed after Mucha's work because the client asked for it :D
I do not have any stories for my chars but I believe that's the next step, I look after Even Mehl Amundsen for this. I think it brings a whole different level in
the idealization of a character.
As of now I feel very trapped in my design process because the last year has been all about drawings things right with out putting some meaning to it.
Is not until now that I'm starting to feel some freedom to my drawings where I'm not entirely in need for reference I can pull from my visual library after all the studies I've done. I guess the best recommendation I can give you is just keep drawing and drawing and eventually you will put the pieces together.

very nice shortenings on your life drawing, nice sense of volume and very confident lines ! for your urban samourai since your studies are looking realistic i suppose you're reaching for some realism on your imaginative paintings ? maybe you should spend more time on your values, they're not enough developped to really grasp the volume ! spend some time studying design, your character design is way too simple, from the clothes to the pose, silhouette is too generic ! keep posting more and more !

Thanks Kikindaface!, I'm not sure as what I'm looking style-wise I really look after people like Charlie Bowater or Adrian Daddich, I also enjoy the character concepts of Ian Mcaig, Dave Rapoza, Marko Djurdjevic and West Burt. I plan building a character heavy portfolio so I will be doing a lots of studies in design and ofcourse lots of chars! Thanks again for the feedback it is very much appreciated!
