Postby crowbit » Mon Feb 29, 2016 3:09 pm

Hey im Crowbit... I'am a 20 year old Scottish art student, stuck at a school that teaches you how to nail toilet seats to walls and pass it as art. Wanting to improve my digital art skills so c&c very welcome. also feel free to over paint on my work if you want to help point out thinks that I can improve.

Well man you just gotta work it you know :D you will get better.
But you did that sword handle really well though, the line art was on point too. Would maybe need more liveliness in the picture, it's more of composition thing. There's a lot of small good things, however it's a bit bland at at some places, mostly some places just need more variation and contrast.

Also i didn't notice it at first but that campfire is bugging the hell out of me now :D

Anyway, making more polished stuff is a really good habit, you should try to keep hold of it even if you might think environments didin't go that well.
Accompany that with some studies and your gonna get level ups in no time!

been hitting alot of walls with art at the moment, like the feeling of being not to sure when to stop working on certain commission piece. Like I want to make art that they shall like and my mind keeps saying you can do more. But every time I sit down for a couple of hours I only end up adding a tiny amounts of stuff, that feels like it wasn't really worth the 2 hours. I am also having seconds thoughts on art school since I have noticed a dramatic decrease in my progress and thats mostly dude to the decline in studies. I think the idea of doing more art after a 9 till 5+ at uni tends to be draining but I do still tend to get in a minimum of 2 hours done every day. would much rather be spending 5+ hours a day doing studies and working on paying commissions than making fucking origami bears and being told not to do any digital art =.=

sorry I just wanted to vent a little BUT FUCK ART SCHOOL!!!

Ooof, that school might not have been the best choice then. Hard to say that from my perspective, though, as I have no idea what the rest of your courses will be like.

When given enough time or reference, it seems that you do quite well with adding form to your faces but I would say that you still seem to be struggling with giving form to your eyes. Everything has adequate volume but those eyes make things look like older videogame models.

Might be something to work on.

Hey, there's a lot of real nice paintings in here. Solid stuff overall!

A lot of the work could really benefit from some more color nuance, at the moment a lot of the colors in your paintings just sort of hold a one note value, and there isn't much of a shift in their color complexity.

Art school can be tough, especially when the work they have you do doesn't quite match up with you're interests. I had the same problem of having to balance work from school, while not entirely unrelated to the work I wanted to do, that was still taking time away from the real work I was interested in. My experience was pretty poor overall. If you aren't that far into the program, and it won't cost you an arm and a leg to drop out, and you really feel it's not ultimately benefiting you, then it might be a good idea to consider leaving to focus on the aspects that are most important to you. It can save you both time and money that could be better invested elsewhere in online mentorships/programs that target your specific interests.

The work is looking good, and hope some of this may help ya out. Keep pushing! :]

@Will-Marton: Ye I really dislike how dull my colour pallet is. Think I just need to grow a pair and push myself out of my comfort zone ^_^

Not been posting her to much just been working on gesture doing some studies and some imagination stuff. also been looking at faces since I feel they look stiff and characterless atm
