I think you are generally on the right track but I'll have to agree with 2tall4yall's advice about studying structure.
As of now, the majority of your characters I could swap faces with your other art and it wouldn't change a whole lot. Everything's more or less the same distance and using the same symbols with slight variations. I think it might be largely due to you not understanding how to construct them comfortably and so most of your effort is put into trying to properly construct the head with what knowledge you do have.
The better knowledge you have about 'ideal' proportions and construction, the less you'll have to depend upon it, funny enough. Once you have enough information on what components of form are crucial to drawing a head/body/anything, the easier time you'll have manipulating it or knowing what to do.
That said, don't stop what you're already doing. Keep exploring different kinds of characters and structures, just make sure you throw in some good studies to pull from.
