Maybe so, but perhaps you can take this as an opportunity to focus as get as much out as you can within the time constraints or mess around with artificial lighting.

Keep it up! The perspective on this one looks a lot better than the previous.

@Enydimon: Heya thanks for taking your time and commenting :D Yes that's true. I guess I'd just like to have a bit more time. Yeah I really messed upthe first one perspective wise... I still can't sit at my desk for too long so I have to paint on the ground which makes everything really awkward.

Anyway here are some messy subway sketches. It makes me so nervous to draw people on the train. I usually find excuses not to do it (like I'm tired. I had 4 hours of math today and so on...) but it's a really good practise. So many diverse faces.

Also sketchbook pages hurray.

Nice stuff so far. The still life look good but maybe think a bit about adges. In the last one the book and the shadow it casts have super hard edge compare to dagger. And I dont know If I just didnt notice and you are actually doing it but doing study and then applying what you learn in some way maybe is worth a try, like for example drawing some anatomy study or armor or something and then drawing it again from imagination may help. Well I dont know myself just some ideas :D Hope you keep doing more stuff.

@Crowbit: Heya pal! Thanks for coming by. No worries... It's not like I made you sign a contract! Really cool that you at least tried it out! I mean I'm mostly disappointed in myself, that I couldn't finish it in the time I wanted to. I just didn't realise just how time consuming my other life would get :/. I will still finish it though eventually.

@Varbas: I hear ya. Yeah edges is a thing I'v been having troubles with! I'll try to look out more for them in future studies so thanks for the heads up.
I'm kinda all over the place which really sucks I'll try doing studies that are relevant to my current personal pieces but sometimes I think I might be good just to do some fundamental stuff? I'm a bit out of it haha anyways.

Well I think you can get very artistic with edges but mostly it is easiest thing to just bullshit :D . Just some hard edges on focal point.
The last character you did is pretty good but I noticed the hands are pretty bigger then it should be on this figure. You can ussually check with this method. Nice stuff anyways.

Hey Zip, how 'bout them SU leaks? I wont spoil anything if you haven't seen them yet but I think you'll be happy from a worldbuilding standpoint.

That Ghibli study is beautiful. Really well done. It's good to see you're still drawing a decent amount of work even though you're quite busy.

I think you could stand to loosen up your figures still, though. They still feel a bit too much like puppets in some of your pieces. Maybe more exaggeration in your gestures and double checking is in order.

I've been keeping up with the show for a while now and it almost seems like a miracle if nothing leaks but this time ho boi. I couldn't really resist though :/ This was kind of a lot the stuff I really wanted to see and I really enjoyed it.... I wonder where it goes from here? I expect a few more casual episodes after this but they can't keep major issues arising away forever.

Yeah, but a lot of the stuff is also done a lot more quicker. Doing full illustration pieces would probably take twice if not three times the time now :(
One lecturer also got sick so I got a little extra time.... but now they have a replacement and we have to get the whole material of one month in two weeks haha. First semester is also always the easiest... I talked to some other student and they said somewhere between 3-5th semster is hell.
Better do as much as I can while I still have the time...

I think I need to revise my strategy again on anatomy. I'll do some revision on anatomy with focus on muscle interaction but also a 20 min sketch from imagination whenever I can.

Sorry my scanner is bugging out on me. Here are the first two sketches. I'll start with standing poses and then go more dynamic from there. Also a sketch I started that I liked to much I'll try to get it to finished lineart at least.

Considering the show is from his perspective and the only times he's not in a scene are when a story is being told to him, I imagine enough character development has been done through seemingly 'filler' episodes that we'll get more story progression and more world building. For example, he's starting to ask follow up questions now. I could go on but this is probably a bad place to start, haha.

Well at least you were able to get some good work in. Imo spending a lot of time on a bigger piece, even if it takes longer, is probably a good idea to do. The downside is that it's easier to get sick of it.

****SU Spoiler Warning for those who haven't seen it!!***
Haha yeah. I'm just a little impatient. I was sure peridot's treachery would have more dire consequences sooner but then the rest of season 3(?) was just other archs coming to resolutions, which is fine. I just thought shouting at one of your matriachs gets at least some kind of reaction going. But I guess YD doesn't care to much about that. Then again i guess time is just really bizarre in that world anyway. It kinda always summer until it's winter sometimes haha. It might also feel so long because of the schedule of airing these episodes. If you'd binge watch the episodes maybe this whole progression would feel much smoother. This is all however is just nitpicky fan complaints D: I guess your right though they did do a lot of character development with him. I'm excited to see where it goes from here.

Sorry I've been sick! The amount of slime my nose produces is just incredible. Also (semester) finals are coming up in a littles less than two week. Wish me luck everyone.

Here are some pencil studies my scanner ruined. I have these little action figures at home which I'm trying to draw from every angle.
Also sketchbook pages.

Hope you feel better, that dragon dude looks really cool. I think the sitting girl could use a little work, though, the joints don't feel natural.

@Enydimon: Oh I'm sure her legs are completely broken XD. I drew the upper half and already messed up the hands and then it only went downhill from there. These are done with an unerasable pen in little sketchbook so every mark is final D:

Subway sketches and I worked more on that sketch I did. That's where I keep it for now. Since I started this a stupid sketch the PSD file is kinda meh
but it was a fun experiment. I'll hopefully do a full painting in a similar style once I have some vacation time :D

Finally done with things for now. I'll take a few days off to chill a bit haha. I'll hopefully be a little more active the following weeks in the forums and stuff. Y'all better update your sketchbooks until then haha!

Here are just two little scheduler sketches. I'll try to scan some stuff for the next updates, but a lot of the recent studies have been really messy and all over the place so I don't think their worth showing :(
I'll also try to get more finished done. Okay enough talk for now. Hello sofa and bed hahaha :)
