I often look at your sketchbook and I realized that you have a tendency to draw the arms and legs really thin compared to the rest of the body, this may be your "ideal" body and you draw like that without realizing, (I usually draw extra long legs, for example) but paying more attention to those parts could really pay off, since your drawing are already appealing. Keep it up!

@Menze: Thanks! Can´t really say that this is my ideal, it´s I guess sort of my standard body when drawing from imagination that developed a bit from cliche fantasy body types. Bit of variation would be good :) Looking at your sketchbook (your posted gestures mainly), I can´t really see a problem with you drawing legs too long, looks good to me

Sort of a different take on a druid kind of character and I did a couple of speed portraits just for fun, each taking about 10-15 minutes. I didn´t go mainly for likeness, just for having sort of 6 different faces, but there are 4 celebrities hidden in there. Can anyone guess who? :)

Some sketching with vehicles and finally I´m allowed to post my ILM contest stuff, so here is the first painting. The task was to use elements from the old star wars trilogy and create a new story. So I had the Empire launch a ground assault on Yavin 4, heavily wounding (or killing) Luke in the process.

Some more spaceship sketches, not exactly constructed, some perspective errors, but they are meant to be simple idea sketches

Finally finished the girl with pearl earring oil painting. Not perfect, but turned out ok. It needs to dry now, then I´ll maybe tweak it a little more with some glazing

Some pencil sketches and a watercolour painting of Craigievar castle from my summer trip to Scotland. It really is a pink fairy tale castle in the middle of nowhere. Quite a surreal experience :)

Hullo!

Your drawing is really good and so is your rendering! : ) I think doing anatomy studies will definitely help you, some of your figures are a wee wacky.
I think gestures might help? http://senshistock.com/ is nice for that.

Keep rocking man! :D

@Maron: Thanks very much! Some figures are a bit wacky, true. Mostly because I didn´t pay attention to construction or just doodled carelessly around :) I mostly use quickposes.com for gesture drawing

Some doodles of random internet stuff, pencil sketches and ballpoint pen studies of Repin paintings. His work is really phenomenal and extremely realistic. Also his portraits are highly interesting to draw. So many wrinkles and bumps ...just fun :)

I'm not sure if this critique is useful to you, because you don't seem to use a lot of watercolour, but next time, try to be more bold when using water. For example, the lack of a big initial wash let a lot of white paper show through the painting, wich can be really distracting. I also have the impression you worked with extra dry paper/too little water on the paint, since the foliage is clearly "made of" brush strokes. You usually want the different layers and colours to talk with each other, making the water do the blending for you, and that is often the appeal of a watercolour painting. You could have used it to your advantage on the very far trees, making them nothing more than a mass of different colours since they are not the focal point, or making the grass on a moist paper, so the individual blades wouldn't stand out so much. Anyways, keep it up o/

@Menze: Thanks very much for your tipps on watercolour! I´m still experimenting with the medium, trying to find out what works with me :)

Pencils sketches and ballpoint pen plus ink/marker study/sketch (the study is blue, cause my black ballpoint pen finally died and I had nothing else...markers with alcohol on top naturally smear :) Figured it is time for some halloweeney stuff....and combine i with inktober :)

Some pencil sketches and lots of doodles, nothing really serious. Tried to sketch out some extremely quick faces with facial expressions to see how I do drawing them from imagination. If you´re wondering about the horse, my 3 year old niece was visiting while I drew and she didn´t believe I could draw a horsey :)

Sketching around trying to be a bit painterly and an exercise for face consistency, sketching out a face and try to show it from different angles and with different expressions. That was lots of fun!

Some ballpoint pen portrait studies plus an experiment in sketching. I tried to recall some artists work from memory and sketch something reminiscent to it. So first one is from Conan illustrations from Frazetta in subject and composition (pose is more moved than in the typical Conan painting). I obviously switched the gender roles here.
Second is in style to Alfons Mucha. Had lots of fun with that one and I think, I will do a painting of that one sooner or later (oil or digital, I don´t know yet)
