Hai buddy..Thank you for your tip. I'll try for now on to see it in any form to make it have more substance and not look flat!

Those two bellow are studies that I made from an awesome digital artist, named "sidwill-cg" from Deviantart. I'll be doing studies on his works to figure out how he creates his artwork..and to have more understanding in colour, theme and composition.

Really good job on those face sketches. Getting the face structure right is really really hard especially when you're not drawing from reference. Keep doing studies and your personal sketches and you'll notice you'll get better with it.

I don't know if you still appreciate comments on your skeleton piece but I think it works much better in a vertical format. You just have extend the top a bit since the the head is egding to closely to the canvas top. I would also emphasize the head from the black background with some form of structure.

The rest works already. Good job on the skull and on the sword.

I think you can keep the background fairly simple but still effective. I'll add a little suggestion picture but feel free to ignore it if you have other ideas :)

Just checked in here quickly to say that, that piece really turned out well. Awesome idea with the glas stain window. So glad you went back and finished it!

That new piece looks promising as well. Nice work on the demons face.

PS: the second one is darker, because I drew it at night and my only light source was my monitor.

Love the studies and the dedication to your sketchbook!

Sid is also one of my all time favorites to study from, he has amazing use of light; If I remember correctly, he would usually be doing studies of sculptures on his video stream a few years ago. Maybe doing some studies of sculptures could help your control of values too.

Another thing that looks off is your anatomy. Doing reams of drawings of bones, muscles, and human proportions from references are bound to help with that. Hope this helps, keep up the good work!
