Oh man these illustrations are really good.I really like the colours and style. I think that if you can refine it just a bit more that you'll definitely get some customers.

Haha, I know this may seem like a double post but I'm suprised not more people posted in here. Did I tell you alreadly that I love your style. My favorite post was the middle one you shared on January second, on page 2. Like I would actually pay for that, or I can even imagine it in like a card game, or book, or video game.

I don't really have anything constructive to say atm but that I love the little chicks on the first page and your sketchbook title always makes me laugh.

I really like your palette choices. Is there anything you would say inspires you or guides you toward those choices?

Slade: Double thank you! I'm glad my paintings are starting to look purchasable haha. I'm actually working on a commission right now, three paintings. I'm v happy.

Enydimon: Thanks, feller. When it comes to colour palletes, most of the time It's me putting down colours and going "oh shit, everythings too warm/cold/yellow/grey and messing around till it starts to feel interesting. Its not the right way! When I'm not being naughty I put down colours first and keep a few colours in mind. Usually like a bland main colour, then from ridiculously bright colour sandwitched between to not so ridic colours.

I'm still experimenting.

Good Job so far. Did I ever mention that I love your style? For the traditional paintings what're you using? Oil paint or acrylics? To me they look like oil paintings.

I'm using acrylics! I've never touched oils before. And thanks, I'm having some problem with the nose/mouth areas as always, but I'm gonna see if I can fiddle around after doing a few studies and get back to them. >D

You making a caaaaaaaaamic?

I'm guessing this is a rough draft, but don't forget to give your typography as much love and attention as the drawings themselves. Right now the text doesn't have enough contrast to be that readable, and this might be personal preference, but I think you could probably find a better typeface.

Enydimon, I've been making the same comic since 13. Save me from myself.
I placed some of the white boxes I was going to put in, should have put them in before, but I was still fiddling with text placement.
Birds: Just looked at your sketchbook, you've clearly got a style developing yourself, looking forward to seeing more!
And you're right, been drawing more substantial studies of hands lately, and im going to try to do more face studies, because i struggle with faces. Oh do I struggle.

Not a big update this time, still need to upload the traditional things too, maybe later? We'll see. We'll see.

such awesome work!!!!! i love where your comic is heading.
and your lines, once again, mmm m m m XD
for your comic all the values are similar in each panel. i think it would be cool to have a strriking focal contrast point. i dont know how you do it, but the mood defniltey gets across- in a good way!!

Long time no update!

What can I say, I experienced for the first time being in a situation where I had to choose between having a job and having the energy/time to draw. I was managing drawing on the bus to and from work, in my lunch time, but I was in a pretty low place and everything felt like a chore.

Turns out now I'm jobless because of doodling. Needless to say I'm now feeling this residual guilt for drawing, or taking the time to draw. I'll be searching for a new job this week, but if anyone has advice for how to actually feel joy drawing again its much appreciated.

Some of the bus drawings I've done. The first one's (or last, depending on upload order) just me trying to work on something somewhat finished.

hey there the sketches look wonderfull, i dig that clean and slightly rendered sketches of yours, reminds me a bit of saskia which i love as well.
about your situation, i tottally inderstand you, cant you find a part time? something easy to do, so you can get money and stability to draw.
i tell you from personal experience, its much better to have stability then alot of free time with no stability.

i would recommend you to take your time to solve stuff first and then go full force once things are stable, but i know sometimes stuff can get really hard and more if you cn just think on draw draw draw, hell, im in a similar situation as well but i beleive sometimes is better to focus on a thing at a time, best of the luck and hope yo see you kicking asses soon.

really love those cats on page 2

I think practicing some perspective and construction could bring nice armature to the charm you already have in these drawings

Long time no post. Settled into a new job, things a bit more stable and starting to draw again.

Got less time during the day to draw now, so I've been more into speed drawings before work/ during breaks/ on the bus back. Definite quality drop because of it.
Main goal is to get myself enjoying drawing again, got some glasses so im going to draw things from observation during my mornings before work, should help me with perspective and accuracy a bit more. I'll be bullying myself to update more because I got legit no excuses and I'm missing being in an arty community.

hey glad things are going on for you! definitely would love to see your art grow so keep it comming, and yep you got no excuses, burn thoses pencils.

and once again i tottally feel you, the art community thing i mean, it gets lonely so very quickly, we should create an island for artists wherew all artists go live there so its not so damn hard to get into art communities, well im sure when we die that will happen, were so lucky.

ah sorry for the jokes, about your stuff, it really shows advanced knowledge in many aspects and clearly your having having fun with the last bunch of draws, lots of experimentation going on, so cool haha

i dont really know what to critique tough, be sure to keep learning.

Self portraits still have the cockeyed thing going on, like I'm struggling with the foreshortening of that further side of the face still. Did this one after a few attempts (from mirror).

I think the issue is that your nose and your mouth planes are where they should be and accurately placed in the middle, but the forms surrounding the eyes of the piece are on a different perspective.

naidypaintover.jpg
naidypaintover.jpg (95.86 KiB) Viewed 273 times

It's subtle, but it's enough to throw it off. I feel you, though, I think drawing both eyes accurately from life is really tricky because they're the one tool we use to observe and they dart all over the place and change things. I'd just make sure you're checking the perspective with the rest of the face. Eyes are not that far apart from each other and in most perspectives will not really distort much or at all.

Enydimon: Oh man, that hit the nail on the head!

I was feeling like somethings were off. Its all coming back to construction as usual. The jaw/cheek bones still throw me off here and there, I think I need to be more patient and take more time to check on the parts I know get me rather than race through them.

I'll figure doing some plane studies would help. I'll do some in the morning. Last post before bed, I used some reff near the end. Noses/eye brow areas were stumping me tonight.

Edit: pasting the morning studies on here in order to lessen spam ;) The struggle is real though. I find currently I lack the concentration to get through accurately assessing certain angles, particularly in regards to cheek/jaw/nose alignments.
